Chairman of the Board Jørgen Dirksen of Good Food Group will become interim CEO of Good Food Group as of 17 January 2022 in connection with the resignation of the previous CEO Lillie Li Valeur by mutual agreement and will focus on new priorities. Board member John Lesbo will serve as interim chairman of the board in the interim.
Over the past two years, Good Food Group has focused on realising an ambitious growth strategy through both acquisitions and geographic expansion. However, COVID-19 has limited the opportunities for growth. This is particularly the case in some export markets and in the food service sector, which has been significantly challenged by repeated closures and which, prior to the outbreak of COVID-19, represented 30% of total turnover. Despite the challenging market conditions, turnover has been maintained through targeted strategic actions focusing on existing customers, development of the retail business and exports, and not least the acquisition of Jakobsen A/S, Scandinavia's largest honey producer. However, continued intense competition, soaring freight and commodity prices and bottlenecks in supply chains have affected profit levels.
"Over the past two years, Lillie Li Valeur has spearheaded the implementation of a number of important strategic and commercial initiatives that have boosted our business and our work with customers, categories and products. We will take this with us on our journey. Market conditions have changed significantly and this requires us to adapt, both through the way we address our customers and markets - and how we organise ourselves internally. Therefore, we agree that a new management approach is needed to drive continued development and growth while strengthening earnings," says Chairman Jørgen Dirksen and continues:
"We continue to see very attractive potential in both existing and new markets, and we have initiated a process to find a new CEO as soon as possible to lead the drive to realise this potential. In the meantime, we will work focused to maintain momentum and ensure that our customers and employees continue to experience Good Food Group as a strong and dynamic supplier and employer."
