The factory in Lycksele takes part in social responsibility as it strives to make energy consumption as efficient as possible. In addition, the factory has also collaborated with Umeå University, where a group of students had the opportunity to put their theoretical knowledge into practice.
For example, in 2020, the factory began working with a project group to investigate possible improvements in the factory's energy efficiency. The project team discovered that the factory was not utilizing all the cold in the cooling water that cools the products before they are bottled. It turned out that the cooling water flow was too high, resulting in a waste of energy. By installing a throttle to control the cooling water flow, it was possible to halve the flow without significantly affecting the cooling time.
As water is a major part of production and a natural resource, it is important for the factory to take responsibility, use water as efficiently as possible and reduce water and energy waste. This collaboration between the university and the factory was a win-win situation as the students gained practical experience and the factory gained valuable insights into energy efficiency opportunities.
