The forest is a very special place to have honeybees, as the forest floor gets less light and therefore fewer flowers, compared to other sunny areas. In larger forest areas, bees will stay in the forest anyway, drawing nectar from trees and bushes.
As less sunlight reaches the forest floor, the forest will also be perceived as being more humid compared to other places. Bees normally collect nectar from flowers, but as the forest has few flowers, they will instead collect sugar through "honeydew" from nectaries on ferns and the leaves of certain deciduous trees. The sugars are the plants' energy, which becomes the most delicious honey.
The forest honey is very dark and strong in taste. It smells and tastes so good that the bees are buzzing!
